Jons Christmas

Here is Jonny opening his other big present. Besides the Mix-n-Blend

Christmas Day

This is a video of Sariah opening the Octopus. This what I was talking about with the wires and you push objects on the wires.

Sariah also got a lion that she can sit on and scoot around on. She cant reach the ground very well right now but I think she will really enjoy it in about a months or two.

Behind Jon is another toy she can sit and rock on and there are light to push and it plays songs. It is also a 3 in 1 toy that can turn into a deal that a baby can lay under and see the light or the lights can be detached and a baby can just sit up and play with it. So it can follow a baby through its stages. laying-sitting-moving.

Christmas time!

We had a great Christmas. Sariah was way cute, her favorite toy was her Doggie that we got her. When she came out in the morning thats the first thing she saw and she just cuddled with it for 5 or 10 min.

The other presents were
mostly
books that here wrapped. We also got her one of
those toys where you push the objects around on the wires.

Sariah and Daddy

The pictures in the yellow dress are from October 6th

The picture of her standing in the onesie is from Oct. 25th

Sariah

This is Sariah on the 25th of October. She had two teeth on top now sticking out pretty far. I never realized how fast they must have grown in.
It is pretty amazing. I know they gave her some grief though. One night she was waking up every hour and half or so because she was in so much pain. Shes a trooper though

Sariah is always trying to take off her bib when put it on her. When I dress he she helps me pull her shirt down and the same with when I undress her so she knows the concept of pulling things off over her head.

She is a happy babe though.
This is on the 30th of October

Here is Sariah, a bunny, and Tatym, a puppy, in their Halloween costumes Sariah was kinda cranky because she was tired.

She was a cute lil bunny though. We also went to a party the next day and she was happy but we didn't have the camera at that time. We are supposed to get those pictures sometime soon.

Sariah scooting

This is on November 3rd. She is a lil froggy scooter. She kept following me and I would move back. She kept looking up at me like mom stop moving back so I told her I would stop. She gives me the same look when I was trying to get her to move and I would take the toy further away so she would get it. She would stop and look and me like "I know what your doing and I am not going to get it now" and most the time she would not want it anymore if I moved it. She is a smart girl and wont take any.

The new thing I am struggling with with her is her socks and shoes. She refuses to keep them on. Mostly her socks. She pulls them off but never loses them. She puts them between her legs in her car seat stacked on top of each other. I tell her she needs to keep them on and I put them back on her and she yells at me in disaproval. Then when I am not looking or we are driving again she will take them off again and stack them between her legs. She is such a funny girl.

My mom told me today that she is definitely a girlie girl. Which by my moms definition she knows what she wants and she knows what she doesnt like and she will not put up with things without telling you how she feels about it. My mom says my sister and I were never as vocal as Sariah is in disaproval. She definitely has a strong personality which can be good and bad. She is a very good baby though. I am so grateful to have her. Well thats all for now. I will get some videos of her crawling. She is always crawling from room to room now.

Saria's Movin!

So I am really confused I think I have already written about this. I dont understand how they are not getting published. I think this has happened a few time.

So Sariah has been scootin around on her belly for a week or two now. She can get on her knees and crawl but she finds it to be too slow still so she drops down to her belly and army crawls. She now has two teeth on the top poking out and tw on bottom. The ones next to the top two are working on coming through also.

Sariah was a cute bunny for Halloween with her four lil teeth. We have a few pictures but I think they were when she was grumpy (we went to two halloween parties, one Thursday and one Friday). I will have to get those up. Sariah is looking more and more like a little girl to me everyday. She is picking up on some of the games me and Jon play together and plays with me. It is so cute. People who dont know us dont really understand but its still fun. She does Jon look of trying not to smile when she is trying to be mischevious and she does my looking away that I do to Jon. Its so cute.

The other day I was singing in the shower (Sariah was with me Jon wasnt, Jon was brushin his teeth and in the kitchen) to Jon one of those "Jonny I love you, Jonny I do" primary songs and I would stop at intervals and she would sing and include her da das. Its was way cute.

I really need to find some more kids for Sariah to play with. She loves other kids. When she sees them at church she perks up and says "hiey" in her lil voice and stares at them. Most the time they dont pay her any attention and she sits there looking at them like "why wont you talk to me." Natalie says her ward has a play group so maybe I can get in on that.

I start my hair school this Tuesday Nov. 4th. I am kinda nervous and excited at the same time. Sariah will be watched by my mom from 8a to a lil after 5p for my first 6 weeks and then I will be changing to part time in January. But my mom will only need to watch her for half days on the days Jon doesnt work which is every Friday and every other Thursday.

Well I think that is all for now. You can ask questions if there is anything specific you want to know. I just blabber on about what I think about, who knows if I miss something.

Love
Amber

Sariah stood up!

Monday morning, the 19th of October, I woke up and heard Sariah talking so I went in to get her. I open the door and she is standing up holding onto the side of her crib grinin at me with her big smile. I couldn't believe it. I ran around the apartment trying to find the camera to get a picture but I couldnt find it. All the while Sariah was still just standing there waiting for me to pick her up. I dont know how she stood up and she hasnt done it again but it is still crazy cool.

Sariah is also working on getting more teeth. She has one poking out already on top and 2 others looking like they will poke through soon. She has been quit a bit more whiny lately so I think they are bothering her alot more. I bought her some orajel the other day and it seems to work pretty well. She hates the taste though so its tough getting it on. Its strawberry flavored, I can smell it too, the smell might bother her also. Who knows.

Oh also on Sunday she started scooting around on her belly. She figured out to move she can pull and push herself with arms and legs on her belly. She gets up on her hands and knees and rocks also. The other day I was really tired and put her on floor in living room to play with her toys and I went and laid down.. Sariah started whining, I didnt want to get up so I left her. After a couple minutes I realized it sounded like she was getting closer. When I came out she was by the cabinet next to the dishwasher looking into the kitchen trying to find me. I think this was on Sunday also.

Jon is still doing well in his classes. We figured out a time where he can work out, right when he gets off work he goes to the gym. He started that this week and is really enjoying it.

I think I might start hair school in January instead of Nov. I think that will work our best.

Well thats all for now. Let me know if you guys have any questions......if anyone even reads this.

Having a baby

I was talking to someone today about having a baby. He told me his wife was going to have an epidural, she is only 5 months along. I just think that it is so sad that women these days are not given the knowledge they deserve to really choose if they want to have a natural birth or not.

I have talked to many girls and they all say at some point that they are "scared." And I can understand that. Anything that one has never done before can be scary. But what do you do when you don't know about something? Learn about it. That is what I did. So many girls do not do that though because they don't have to. The hospital says you can have an epidural and you wont feel anything and they will take care of everything for you. Which I suppose that is true but I don't this that is the way to go.

Having a baby naturally is the most wonderful and empowering thing a woman can do. Having a baby grow inside of you is already a wonderful miracle that we get to do. Why wouldn't you want to continue that wonderful experience with bringing the baby into the world on your own also.

God has given women natural ways to be able to cope and have a baby on your own. There has been millions of babies born without epidurals throughout the centuries. It is possible and very probable..

I love how our bodies work. So I always tell people what happens physiologically and because I knew this I knew I could have my baby naturally.

What is a contraction? (by the way these are my definition defined by my experience not a textbook)
A contraction is a tightening of the uterus which occurs to help your cervix to dilate. They begin in short intervals usually, maybe 30 sec long and 5 min apart. As labor continues they become more intense and last longer. When you are in active labor, which is when you will have your baby soon, they are the most intense, longer and short time between them..

So what does your body do naturally to help you cope and feel good through the labor period?
Every time you have a contraction a message is sent to the brain telling it you are feeling some pain or pressure, however you would want to describe it. In response your brain releases Oxytocin.

What is Oxytocin?
Oxytocin is a feel good hormone. It is also called the "love hormone." If you are pregnant you know what it feels like because it is the hormone released when you have sex.

So every time you have a contraction more and more oxytocin is released and you have the ability to cope more and more. So many women have an epidural because they don't think they can take anymore pain or pressure. But really in reality the pressure or pain doesn't every get to more than you can handle. Once again God is not mean and requires us to have children through horrible agony.

The other thing that is awesome about oxytocin is it helps you to relax and helps you to dilate faster.

The reason why a mom can love and care for a baby so much from first site is because her system has so much oxytocin in it. I am sure you have heard "how can you love a baby so much when you have just barely met them?" Well one of the reasons is because of this hormone. The baby also is getting that hormone which causes him/her to feel good also.

Now some of you out there might be saying that you have had a baby and you never felt any feel good hormone at all and that's why you have an epidural. It is also possible to counteract the feel good hormone from being released if you are scared. If you are scared the fight or flight hormone is released which will cause more pain and whatnot because no matter how much you want to jump out of your body and run from the situation of labor you cannot.

On the flip side if you get an epidural....
Your brain is not told there is pressure and discomfort.. Oxytocin is not released, you are not able to dilate.
So what does the hospital do?
They give you pitocin. Pitocin does the same thing as Oxytocin but it is not a feel good hormone, it does not make you feel good and relaxed or love for the being you are bringing or having be brought into the world. There is no certainties what effect it has on the baby either.

We do know that the Epidural can cause your blood pressure to drop which can cause the babies blood pressure to drop. If the babies blood pressure drops there is major danger and that is usually when they do an emergency C-section. You know that the national average for C-sections now in the US 1 in 3 babies. That is ridiculous. 1 in 3 babies have to be delivered C-section. I have no doubt that epidural have to do with that.
With an epidural there is also more chance of fetal stress problems because your baby is not receiving the feel good hormone either.

I will never forget my birth. The nurses and doctor kept saying how they had never seen a more relaxed woman in labor, I am not bragging I'm just letting you know my experience. They monitored the baby while I was pushing, she was being pushed though the pelvis and then cervix mind you, and her heart rate was normal the whole time. She was relaxed.

So some of you might be thinking, What did you do during the contractions? What I did was breath through them with calm deep breaths in and out. But I think the most important thing that I did was prepare mentally all through my pregnancy. I planned from the beginning to have my baby naturally. When people asked be what I would do, I told them I would just breath through the contractions. I asked the Lord in my prayers to help me. I told him I knew He created me to do this and that I knew he would help me through it. Last but not least, I had my support team. I had a Doula to help me and keep me focused. I had a wonderful husband there with me. There are a few pressure points that can be pushed on to relieve the pressure.

My favorite part of giving birth to my baby was that I pulled her out. Some people are like, what how can you pull out your own baby? When after the shoulders come out you put your hands under the arms and you pull her out. Trust me it is not for everyone. I helped my friend through her labor and delivery and it was not something she wanted to do. But that was the best thing for me. I held her and just looked at her for a while. It is truly an amazing experience. I would never want to trade in feeling and doing the birth of my baby naturally for anything.

Our Responsibility As Citizens

Jon has been talking about the Constitution alot and wanting to learn all about it. He has been looking up quotes of some of our founding father and what not. And he has been listening to talk radio and all the crap that is going on in Congress and what not. So that is the new kick.

On Sunday we were read to by the Stake President. How the First Presidency encourages us to learn about the presidential candidates and vote and support that person. So today I received a notice in the mail telling me how to vote and list all the different things to vote for - Federal Races, State races, County races and what not. From this I learned that there are 7 candidates running for president of the Unites States, crazy. I have only heard of Obama and McCain.

So I looked up the person running under the "Constitution Party" (which I had never heard of) and I think his views are alot better than I have heard of Obama and McCain. Anyway his name is Charles O. "Chuck" Baldwin.

But anyways my point is that there are so many options for president and I think it is really important that we follow the counsel we have been given and study out the candidates and support whomever we choose. Our right are slowly being taken away more and more. If we dont start voicing now when we have the chance, that blessing will be taken away.

You can learn about Baldwin at www.baldwin08.com.

Anyways thats all,

Sariah Laughin

Sariah and the Great Dane

When we were up in Oregon Aug. '08 Sariah got to see and pet a Great Dane. She really liked him. She was laughing and laughing. It was pretty cool.

I want to have a Great Dane someday, they are pretty sweet dogs.

Update on Hollister

So Jon didn't get the job at Hollister. Which I am fine with. I never felt good about it anyway. They said he had to have a Bachelors and they would be happy for him to apply again when he has one.

Jon is still doing good in school. He is doing a good job of making sure he gets all his school work done. One thing we found out though is that Jon put the wrong address for his school books to be sent. Therefore we dont know where they are. So Jon doesn't have his books and has to do all his homework at the college Library. We did happen to get one book and it is the only book he doesn't need. Silly how that works. The book was required for the class or so it said online but he teacher says he never uses it. Go figure.

Sariah is sitting up better and talking alot more. Sariah actually loves sitting up. She get upset sometimes when she is lying down and is happy as can be when I sit her up. She says dadadadad all the time. I Try to get her to say mama but she just says dadada to me. Sometimes I think she is teasing me :p
She loves cantelope and doesn't eat banana and avocado as much anymore because of it. I probably shouldn't have given her such a sweet fruit so early, oh well, nothin I can do now.

I have been looking for a part time job so I can work part time and Jon can work part time and study more. Plus if I want the car I have to take Jon to work and pick him up which is at 9 or 10 at night depending on the day. So if I work part time I would have to take Jon to work less. I have had no luck though. Maybe it isnt the right thing to do.

I would really like to go to school and get some education but I dont know. Hair school would be cool because its a profession I could do in my home. Plus my moms house has a salon in it I could work out of. I just need to find someone to watch Sariah for me.

Well I think that is all for now. I will write again soon.

Love,

Amber

Hollister Job

Here is a lil family pic, we look so glossy because it was so dang hot. This is from August

Today I bought a bunch of canned food from Harmons at the case lot sale. I got Tomato sauce for when we make spaghetti and chili, Tomato paste, Cream of chicken for enchiladas, olives, mac and cheese, and other stuff I cant remember. I saves about $50 so I figure that was worth it, and now I have any tomato stuff I could ever need, well other than fresh of course.

It rained today which was pretty nice, cooler weather is always good.

So Jon interviewed with the Regional Manager and she loved him just like the other manager. The only thing that will stop Jon from having the job is if H.R. decides not to accept his UTI schooling. We should be able to find out in a few days. The job is salary at 28,000 a year and over time for any hrs over 40 a week. The regional manager said the average person makes about 30,000 a year. So that will be really good. We plan on trying to pay off all our debts first thing. Jon gets 2 weeks paid time off plus 3 or 4 personal days, 5 sick days and plus different Emergency time off like a funeral, all paid time off. So tht is really sweet. We get 30% Hollister clothes and 40% Abercrombie clothes. Jon get 50% off his first pair of shorts and two shirts to help build his work clothes. We also get benefits it $23 for first person and $20 for every person after that. Plus they pay 90% on medical so that is really sweet, I dont know about dental. Hopefully we will find out this week if he will get the job or not. Oh and what he will be working is 5 days a week, 10 hr. shift, 1-11p. He can still go to school in the morning and has a couple hrs to do homework also. It seems like it will be a really good job and opportunity. Hollister is also opening stores all over country that we would have ability to transfer to.

Well thats all for now.

love,

Oh Sariah and daddy dressed up in church cloths for family photos. This dress is from Grandma and it is just soooo cute. This picture is from August Sariah was 6months.

This picture is just so funny. Sariah is 4 months old. The flash always made her open her eyes really big.
She did not see anything that was shocking other than the flash even though it looks like she did.

At my Graduation - 5/2/08.
Sariah is about 3 months old

Miss Sariah 2 months old. Her hair always stuck straight up, it was really funny and I could never get it to lay down. This is her pink blanky that she sleeps with every night.

Sariah Rae - how shes grown

Heres Sariah in her blessing dress, on her blessing day - 3/2/08. About a month old.

Here is Sariah just 2 days old sleepin in the boppy. Sariah was born with thick dark hair. Pretty long also for a baby

Here is Sariah just an hr old or so. I held her for a while after she was born so she wasn't weighed right away.

Sariah was 7lbs. 7oz and born at 7:08p.m. on Feb. 4, 2008.

Where she came from. This is a pic just 4 days before Sariah was born. Taken after I came home from work.

More Grand Canyon

Jonny is just so excited. You would think he was on a roller coaster with that look.
Sariah is pretty happy too.

Oh the happy lil family. Plus "Big D" aka "D-licious"
Cant forget him.

The Grand Canyon 8-2-08

LOL this one is the best. She copying my big mouth smile.

These are some of the first pictures we ever got of Sariah smiling. For whatever reason she loved being in that pack with daddy and being at the Grand Canyon.
Or maybe it was because she was able to get out of the
car......who knows
Heres her wrinkly nose and
that big gum smile
Hey so I just started this blog. This is something I have been wanting to do for a while but I haven't. I have been waisting my time on the internet and I decided to finally do it.

So a lil update on the fam. Jon is doing well in school, but he is very busy. He basically wakes up goes to school comes home to eat and make lunch and then goes to work until 9 or 10. We are hoping he get a new job soon at Hollister as "Manager in Training." He in interviewing again, this time with the regional manager. The manager really likes him but the only thing he needs is to have credit hrs. for a Bachelors. They said they would accept his UTI school if the hrs are equivalent. So hopefully that will work out. He wont be working any less but he will be off the roads which is what we are worried about for the winter. PLus he doesnt get much sleep and he is tired while sitting all day.

Sariah is getting sooo big. She is looking different every day it seems. She is not scooting a whole lot but she is standing better. She mostly scoots on her back. She has fallen off the bed a couple times now. She has been a bit whinier lately but I think it is because she is getting another tooth in. Sariah is also talking all the time. She talks like she is saying things matterafactly (if thats a word). She is saying dadada, mamama and bananana. She is still a big pooper just like her daddy, lol.

I am still trying to do Arbonne. Nothing eventful has really gone on with it. I am doing a party in Vegas this next week which will hopefully be successful. I have an open house this Saturday also. But anyways that is all for now. Talk to you later.

Love ya

Amber
