So I have been really bad at putting pictures up on here but it is just so much easier on facebook. I can take them and load them at the same exact time. So unfortunately facebook gets updated first. I still dont have any pictures loaded on the computer and I dont really want to go searching for cords right now but I will tell you about the new one.
Our little son was born 1/20/11, 9:28pm, 8lbs 8oz and 21 inches long. We named him Eliak Reed Juett. Everyone asks how I came up with that name, it doesn't exist in the baby books or online baby name sites, so I will tell you how it came about. So Jon liked the name Elias and I didnt but I didnt really have any ideas and then one day at school the name Eliak literally just popped into my head. After thinking about the name for a little bit I put together that it was kinda like Elias and Erik combined. I text Jon right away and asked him what he thought of the name and he said he liked it and it stuck. His middle name is after Jon's middle name, we decided that our first boy and girl would be named after our middle names.
A little bit about Eliak and his birth, well it actually might end up being alot. So a little history. My first due date was Jan 23rd, but then it was pushed to Feb. 6th due to the first ultrasound and the size of the baby. This is my third child with Dr. Lunt and he has pushed my due date everytime according to the ultrasound but the baby is always born "early" and closer to the first due date. (Sariah was 5 days before original due date and Rachelle was 2 days after). Its also kinda funny because the babies always catch up and in my last couple weeks I start to measure according to my first due date.
So I am at my doc appointment on 1/19/11 and I am measuring 40 cm and the week before I was measuring 38 so they are worried I am measuring soo big. Im thinking my original due date is the 23rd, its fine. But they are worried and want to do an ultrasound, I am 37 weeks and 3 days according to them. So we do an ultrasound and the baby is measuring beyond their measurement scale, he is so big they say they cant even measure. They estimate that he is 9 or 10 lbs, doc says probably over 10 lbs. I have no high blood pressure or gestational diabetes or anything by the way.
Doc starts throwing around that we should induce, oh and by the way he also informed me before all of this that he is going out of town Fri-Sun. This was before I was checked and 40 cm was brought up. I told him "are you serious" because I was feeling like this baby was going to be coming any day. So now I find out there is apparently this huge baby inside of me and maybe we should induce and doc will be out of town in two days. He said we should probably induce tonight (wed) or tomorrow (thurs), but he will call me and let me know for sure after he does some research.
I was worried about inducing. I had done my girls natural and I wasnt sure about inducing. Doc called later and said after talking to a colleague and doing some research he doesnt think I should induce and we should wait til next week when I am 38 weeks and we know for sure the babies lungs are good. Im thinking, your kidding me, the kids "huge" and im due on the 23rd! But ya ya not according to him. But at least im not being forced to induce so im ok.
But there was still the dilemma that doc was going out of town on Friday and I didnt want someone I didnt know delivering the baby. I felt like the baby was going to come on Friday and I thought that would be a cool birthday still 1/21/11 but no doc had to be gone. So I decided to try the castrol oil thing to try to bring on contractions, sorta naturally. I only took 1 Tbs though. So I did that Wed. night and went to bed.
Woke up around 2 am and was having regular contractions. They were pretty close together also but not bad. We decided to go to hospital around 4 am. It was alot harder to think about when going to the hospital was right because we had the girls to work with and a 30 min drive.
Anyways we got to the hospital about 5 or 5:30a i think, could have been 6. I was a 3 and they wouldnt check me in yet. I wanted to say ok well then we should just go and come back. Home was 30 min away and it would just be a hassle to go to someone else' house so we just stayed.
To make a long story short. Eliak was not positioned well and I was not progressing very well after about a 6. I was stuck at an 8 for about 5 hrs. I finally got pitocin (sp?) at about 7pm. Got an epidural about 8:30 it was in and good. Eliak was born at 9:28p. It was the longest labor but for a good amount of time I was also at a stand still and not having contractions so it was all good.
Eliak had problems with glucose levels and had to go to the NICU on the 21st. It was so sad they were taking blood from his foot every 3 hrs and then every 6 hrs. His lil feet had sooo many pricks on his heal. He had an IV to get the glucose in him and that was so sad to see. We were able to go home on Sunday the 23rd but then had to go back again on Tuesday the 25th for a night due to bili level problems.
I was so tired of all the tests in the end well and probably during. I am glad he is home and such a good baby. He was back to his birth weight at 11 days old, which is awesome. They usually want baby back to birth weight by 14 days old. He is a really good eater. I think he is going to be in his 3 month clothes at least a month early. Quit a few of his 0-3 month clothes are already too small for him or at least snug.
I am so grateful for my lil guy. He is so precious. The girls love to pet his head. He has the softest hair. I hope he gets more soon.
Well thats all for now. I will try and get some pics up soon.
